The sum of a year of programming for bands should look back into our wonderful history of repertoire, celebrate under-programmed works and composers, and look forward to new works that bring out the best in our skills as conductors and the development of student musicians.
If you have never attended, I would assure any band director (and their administration) that it is a worthwhile conference to attend.
While our bands play many right notes, writing some additional notes will help our audience and communities appreciate the students, our ensembles, and the music even more.
